Contractor website design
A hand-built HTML5 site on our engine, hosted and looked after by us, with business email that works and every lead from your form landing in your Gmail.
Most contractor sites are built on drag-and-drop builders like Duda, Wix or WordPress with a page builder and a stack of plugins. They’re easy for the company running them, but every page carries the builder’s code whether it needs it or not, and phones pay for it in load time. We build in plain, standard HTML5 instead: a small style file, a few lines of script, and your work on the screen fast.
How the build works
Phase 1: website build, $1,000. We move your current site onto our HTML5 engine as is: the same look and the same words, fast on phones, with your old page addresses carried over. Most Phase 1 builds launch about two weeks after signing.
Phase 2: full build for search, $1,000. We sit down with you for a targeting interview of about 90 minutes, and a second if we need it, to settle the services you want more of and the towns you want to win. We research each town, then rewrite every page, title tag and description around a written search plan you approve. Phase 2 takes about 4 to 6 weeks, and the Growth program runs on its plan.
What every site includes
- Built to score. Every page is tested with Google PageSpeed Insights before launch, to a target of 100 in performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO.
- Search basics on every page. A search title and description, structured data Google reads (your business, services and questions), a sitemap, and pages that link to each other the way search engines expect.
- A lead form that reaches you. A short estimate form on every page, in a form account in your company’s name, with spam protection. Every request lands in your business Gmail right away.
- Calls counted. Your phone number on every page, with taps on it tracked.
- Business email. Google Workspace set up at your domain for up to three users, with your Gmail kept working.
- A private preview. You review the new site on a preview link, send up to two rounds of changes, and approve it by email before anything goes live.
Each month on the Website level, $250
- Hosting, security updates, backups and uptime checks
- Your business email and lead form kept working
- Up to 2 hours a month of changes you request
- A current copy of your site saved to your Google Drive after every update
Website runs month to month. It suits a company that wants a fast, reliable site and runs its own marketing. For a page and a video about your work every week, Business Profile posts and review requests, see Growth.

Coming to the engine: our own AI chat
Many contractor sites carry a third-party chat widget that slows every page and sends your leads through someone else’s system. We leave those off. Signet’s own AI chat, with lead capture into your inbox, is being built into the engine and will be offered to clients when it’s ready.
Is a hand-built site better than Wix or WordPress for a contractor?
For speed and upkeep, yes. A builder site loads the builder’s code on every page, and a WordPress site needs its plugins kept up to date. A hand-built HTML5 site loads only what each page uses, so it opens fast on a phone and has fewer parts to break. Signet Workflow builds to a PageSpeed target of 100 and hosts the site itself, so updates aren’t your job.
You own it
Your domain stays in your name at a registrar you control. The site files, the text written for you, and your photos are yours. With your domain and the copy in your Drive, you can move to another host the same day.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Phase 1 and Phase 2?
Phase 1 moves your current site onto our HTML5 engine as is: the same look and words, fast on phones. Phase 2 is the full build for search: targeting interviews, town research, and new text and titles from a written search plan you approve. Each is $1,000.
Will my old page addresses still work?
Yes. We keep your old page addresses where we can and redirect the rest to the closest new page, so what Google already knows about your site isn’t lost.
Do I have to use your hosting?
Hosting is part of the Website level. Your domain stays in your name, a current copy of your site is saved to your Google Drive after every update, and your site comes with a permanent license to our code, so you can move it at any time.
How long does it take to show up in Google?
Plan on about 12 months for the full result. You’ll see early signs well before then, and if you want leads sooner, Google Ads can start within days of launch.
Who makes changes to my site?
We do. The Website level includes up to 2 hours of changes a month and Growth up to 3; you send what you want changed and Signet Workflow makes it. The site files are yours, and a current copy is saved to your Google Drive after every update, so if you ever move the site, you or anyone you hire can edit it.
